Alabama Phoenix Festival

Alabama Phoenix Festival; Alabama Phoenix Festival is excited to announce the second annual festival for creative minds. This Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Gaming, Comic Book, and Costume Convention will begin at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 24, with activities around the clock until closing at 8:00 pm Sunday, May 26. This year, The Alabama Phoenix Festival is working to increase the number of activities for younger fans, introducing special rates for members under 14, and offering free admission to those under 8. Primary programming will take place in 1 hour, 15 minute long blocks with 15 minute breaks between each block. Tracks include: Sci-Fi and Fantasy Media, Comics, Paranormal, Alternate History, Costuming, Star Trek, Star Wars, Sci-Fi and Fantasy Literature, Science and Engineering, Anime and Manga, and Horror, as well as an Art Show, Exhibit, Comics Corner, Gaming Activities, and LEGO® Expo. Members are also encouraged to participate in the Masquerade and Costume Contest. “Our Masquerade and Costume contest is a way for people to display their creativity while immersing themselves in a different reality,” says Charleson. The judging of these costumes will be based on the quality and uniqueness of the design. May 24th - 26th Beginning on 24th at 1pm. Various times throughout. Last session ending May 26 at 8pm Cahaba Grand Conference Center Cost: Membership prices from now until May 3, 2013 are $50 for ages 15+ and $30 for ages 8 to 14 - these include weekend passes to all activities. After May 3, day and weekend memberships will be available at the door. Children under 8 get in free with an adult membership purchase. Group rates are also available until May 3, 2013.
