Battle of the Sipsey Reenactment

Battle of the Sipsey Reenactment; You are invited to the Third Annual “Battle of the Sipsey” Civil War Reenactment, this weekend, hosted by the Fayette Hartsook Guard SCV Camp. Bring your children and lounge chairs. There will be Infantry, Calvary, and Artillery. So if you love big cannons they will be there. Admission is free. Concessions and antique vendors will be available. A Victorian Ball featuring the Grammy award winning musical group, Unreconstructed, will be held Saturday night at 7:00 PM. Students and children are invited to visit a real Civil War encampment on Saturday morning and learn how soldiers lived during the war.

Town Hall Meeting

Town Hall Meeting; This is the First Annual Town Hall Meeting at Chilton County High School. The town hall meeting, sponsored by the Chilton Shelby Mental Health Center's Prevention Services, intends to educate the community about underage drinking/social hosting, bullying and teen pregnancy.

Community Easter Egg Hunt

Community Easter Egg Hunt; Chilton-Shelby Mental Health Center's Drug Prevention Services is hosting a Community Easter Egg Hunt and information fair. The Easter Egg Hunt and information fair is a community service project that will educate parents about social hosting while giving back to a local head start organization. This is the outreach component of our "Kick Underage Drinking Campaign".

The In-Step Ministry will expound on the life experiences that a young black male faces on a daily basis in today’s society and the struggles he endure in handling these life experiences while making the right decisions. These life experiences range from peer pressure to various levels of violence. So, come see this 2-day riveting and moving musical dance drama directed by Tommy “TJ” Dudley and Charlton Holt! Guest appearance by Carolyn Johnson-Turner co-founder of PARENTS AGAINST VIOLENCE (PAV) and the award winning documentary “Not My Son”.

Kohl’s Cares Scholarship for Young Volunteers; The Kohl’s Department Stores Kohl’s Cares® Scholarship Program will award more than $420,000 in scholarships and prizes, ranging from $50 Kohl’s gift cards to $10,000 scholarships, to more than 2,200 young volunteers who have made a positive impact on their communities. Nominations for kids ages six to 18 will be accepted February 1 – March 15 at kohlskids.com. To nominate volunteers ages six to 18 for a Kohl’s Cares scholarship, visit kohlskids.com. Nominations are accepted February 1 through March 15, and nominators must be 21 years or older. Two nominees from each of the more than 1,100 Kohl’s stores nationwide will win a $50 Kohl’s gift card, and more than 200 will win regional scholarships worth $1,000 toward post-secondary education. Ten national winners will be awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education and Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf.
