Alpha-1 Education Day

Alpha-1 Education Day; The Alpha-1 Association will hold a free, public education day about Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, a genetic disorder that can lead to severe lung and liver disease. Doctors from Alpha-1 Clinical Research Centers will discuss the latest treatment options and research, while emphasizing the importance of testing for those at risk. Those who have asthma, emphysema and COPD are among those who should be aware of Alpha-1 and should consider the simple finger-prick test to diagnose the condition. While there is no cure for Alpha-1, there is treatment that can slow the progression of lung disease related to Alpha-1. Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency can also cause liver failure in both children and adults.
