Blue Star Mothers Walk A Mile in their Boots!; Join the Blue Star Mothers of Alabama Chapter 1 “Walk-a-MILE” in Their “Boots” Walk-a-thon. If you can’t walk, please “Donate to a Blue Star Mother, who will be walking in their sons or daughters Combat Boots.”. No matter the time of year, the changing of seasons or the extreme of temperatures, these men and women (with full body armor) walk miles each day to protect our freedoms. Any donations that we receive through this event will help with the cost of care packages and with the recent storms that hit in April, we will aid local military families that were affected. Like our soldiers: we walk rain or shine!!
