Literacy Council's Signature Series; Birmingham Southern College graduate and New York Times best-selling author Sena Jeter Naslund will be coming home in September. The Birmingham Southern College graduate's new book, Adam & Eve, will be released at The Literacy Council's Signature Series fundraising event. The Signature Series annually brings prominent authors to some of Birmingham's most beautiful homes for a private cocktail reception. Patrons will spend the evening with one of America's most fascinating author and receive a signed first edition of Naslund's latest work. She is the New York Times best-selling author of Ahab's Wife, Four Spirits, and Abundance: A Novel of Marie Antoinette. Naslund grew up in Birmingham attending schools at Norwood Elementary and Phillips High School. She graduated from Birmingham Southern College where she received the B.B. Comer Medal in English. She earned a master's degree and a doctorate from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. Naslund has supported emerging writers. She directed the University of Louisville’s creative writing program for 12 years. She also founded the Fleur-de-Lis Press in 1996 to publish the work of young writers. Naslund has been recognized for her work by receiving the Harper Lee Award for Alabama’s Distinguished Writer in 2001 and was named Poet Laureate of Kentucky in 2005.
