The Nona W. Powell Chapter of the Hooper City Alumni Association, Inc. will be hosting its Annual Golf Tournament. Our own golf pro, V. Lee Gurley is our event chairman. Hooper City Alumni Assocation, Inc. provides scholarships to deserving high school seniors throughout the Jefferson County/Birmingham metropolitan area in order to maintain the legacy of excellence in a new generation, as well as perpetuating a spirit of fellowship and unity among its membership. Organized in 1978, the Association has consistently awarded 2 scholarships in the amounts of $8000.00 each for 2 students biennially totaling 27 students. This has been achieved through fund raising efforts and contributions. Gwen Ayers Mason is chapter president.
