The 7th Annual Motherwalk 5K will be held Saturday, May 8 beginning at 9am in Crestline Village. The event is held every Mother’s Day weekend to benefit the Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation. The foundation is a 501(3)c and is based locally out of Birmingham. The foundation promotes ovarian cancer awareness and funding for ovarian cancer research.
The Motherwalk 5K event is family friendly, you may register online at www.nlovca.org. Peanut will be performing, and there will be a blood drive in honor of Laura Crandall Brown who lost her life to the disease 4 months ago.
Funding to date has benefitted ovarian cancer research at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center under the direction of Dr Ronald Alvarez and his associates. To date NLOCF has raised over $400,000 for research and hopes to make it to $500,000 by the end of 2010.
