Jefferson State Community College will be holding an International Women's Day Celebration for the first time on Monday, March 8th from 11:00-12:30. It will be held at the Shelby Campus at 4600 Valleydale Road in the Health Sciences Building Multipurpose Room. We'll be watching segments of the documentary called "A Powerful Noise", which is a film about 3 extraordinary women who are making a difference in their communities (in Mali, Vietnam, and Bosnia). The main focus of the day will be that we, too can make a difference in the international community and in our own backyard. There will also be poetry reading, music, door prizes and refreshments.
Following the event, there will be a volunteer fair where area non-profits will share information about their organizations so that attendees can connect right on the spot and find out how they can pitch in and help.
